_A Little Bit About Ms. Boudreau...
If you ask Ms. Boudreau what her favorite thing to do is, she will tell you DANCE! At age 5 she started dancing and hasn’t stopped taking classes since then! When she was younger, she danced in local Nutcracker productions and earned roles with a traveling children’s performance company, all while taking dance classes 4 days a week (and doing her homework and keeping her grades up!). When she left for college, she took a job teaching dance at a local area dance studio as well as at her college. Over the years, she taught everything from ballet to jazz, pointe to lyric dance. She has taught dancers from age 5 to 65 and choreographed for competitive dancers who won some pretty fantastic awards. Now, she goes to take a dance class just for fun!
Ms. Boudreau grew up in Winchester, Massachusetts with her mom, dad and brother. When Ms. Boudreau was in elementary school, her favorite subject was math. However, in high school, she had a fantastic teacher who got her excited about writing and that quickly became her favorite thing to do. She even joined her school newspaper and soon became its editor. While she was in high school, she played volleyball and ran hurdles for the track team. Then it was off to Babson College where she majored in Marketing and Communications and was both a choreographer and dancer with the Babson Dance Ensemble. After working for a year at an advertising firm in Boston, she went to Simmons College full time to pursue her Masters in Teaching. She taught for a year as an intern in Reading and then got her job at the Batch!
It was shortly after she got her teaching degree that Ms. Boudreau discovered a love for reading. Throughout her life, reading was always really hard for her, so it wasn’t really fun. But it was Harry Potter who made all the difference. Yes, you read that right. It was a book that taught her to read well and love to read. She realized that no one had ever taught her to visualize what she was reading. The books she read never came to life in her mind. After seeing the Harry Potter movie and then hearing EVERYONE rave about the book, she decided to see what all the hype was about. With the movie still fresh in her mind, the words started to take on new meaning as the story unfolded in her imagination. It was from that time on that books became VERY important to her. Since then, she can’t go to bed without reading! And now, she spreads that reading excitement to her students because she doesn’t want them to miss out on a single second of reading fun!
Ms. Boudreau lives in North Reading with her husband David DuPriest and their 3 sons, Tanner, Aaron and Cameron. They can often be seen walking/biking around their neighborhood or playing at the local playgrounds. The five of them often play ball in their backyard or head to the beach to dig big holes and ride the waves. Ms. Boudreau, in addition to teaching first grade, also teaches spinning classes at area gyms as well as teaching workshops for other elementary teachers through the PD Collab, formerly the Salem State Collaborative. Dave works in the fitness industry and is a certified bow technician. Tanner, Aaron and Cam enjoy playing every sport imaginable, therefore the family is often at a ball field cheering them on.
